What to expect at your first appointment

We ask you to complete Intake Forms and Symptom Questionnaires before your first appointment. Your first appointment may take up to 2 hours, so plan accordingly.  This first appointment is geared toward gathering as much information as possible.  You and Dr. Kristy will review your paperwork, and you’ll be asked lots of questions.  You will also have some baseline testing done in the office with an InBody assessment, Qest Bioenergetic assessment, and a Neural Check to look at brain wave activity.

You’ll leave with recommendations for additional labs based on your needs, initial dietary recommendations, and initial supplement recommendations, along with a recommended plan of action.  This plan of action is often a multi-phase plan designed to help you reach your goals.  Dr. Kristy may recommend standard lab testing or specialty lab testing.  She’ll explain what she needs and why.  If there is a lab your primary care provider can order using your health insurance, she will communicate to your provider.  Otherwise, Dr. Kristy will order the specialty labs you need.

What is rTMS & how does it work?

rTMS uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain. It works by delivering repetitive magnetic pulses through a device placed against the scalp, targeting specific areas of the brain to improve mental health conditions, particularly in mood regulation and depression.

What does it help with?

rTMS is primarily used to treat depression, particularly treatment-resistant depression. It can also help with anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and certain neurological conditions like migraines.

How many sessions/treatments do I need and how often can I do them?

Typically, 20-30 sessions are recommended, with treatments occurring 5 days a week for 4-6 weeks. Afterward, maintenance sessions may be needed depending on the individual’s response.

How much does it cost? Discounts?

Prices for each session $60. Discounts for packages are available.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects are generally mild and may include headache, scalp discomfort, or lightheadedness. Seizures are extremely rare but a possible side effect.

What if I am on medication?

rTMS is safe to use alongside most medications, but it’s important to discuss your current prescriptions with your healthcare provider.

Can the magnets cause issues?

The magnets used in rTMS do not cause issues with normal function, but people with metal implants in their head or neck (like cochlear implants) should avoid rTMS.

What is the science behind it?

rTMS works by inducing electrical activity in the brain through magnetic fields, promoting neural connectivity and altering activity in areas related to mood regulation.

Is it FDA Approved?

Yes, rTMS is FDA-approved for the treatment of depression and migraines.

Who should not use rTMS?

People with implanted medical devices, such as pacemakers or metal plates, or those with a history of seizures should avoid rTMS.

What are the benefits?

rTMS can reduce symptoms of depression, improve mood, and enhance overall mental health without the systemic side effects of medication.

Does it really work?

Research supports its effectiveness for treatment-resistant depression, with many individuals experiencing significant improvement after a full course of treatment.

How will I feel after?

Most people feel normal after treatment, though some may experience mild fatigue or headache.

What does it feel like?

You may feel a tapping sensation on your scalp during treatment. It’s generally painless, though some feel slight discomfort at the stimulation site.

Is it safe?

Yes, rTMS is considered safe, with minimal side effects.

How long is a session and how long do the results last?

A session typically lasts 20-30 minutes. Results may last several months, and maintenance sessions may help prolong the effects.

What is Theta & how does it work?

Theta therapy uses brainwave entrainment to promote the production of theta waves, which are associated with deep relaxation, creativity, and healing. It helps the brain enter a meditative, relaxed state.

What does it help with?

Theta therapy is helpful for stress reduction, anxiety, depression, PTSD, insomnia, and promoting creativity and emotional healing. Theta therapy can also be used to increase your performance I.Q. resulting in increased memory, faster processing speed, and improved word recall.

How many sessions/treatments do I need and how often can I do them?

Typically, a few sessions per week for 4-6 weeks are recommended, depending on the individual’s condition and response.

How much does it cost? Discounts?

Costs for a session of Theta with rTMS is $140. Discounts may be available for purchasing multiple sessions.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects are rare. Some people may experience lightheadedness or mild disorientation after the session due to the deep relaxation induced by theta waves.

What if I am on medication?

Theta therapy is generally safe to use alongside medication, but it’s essential to consult your doctor before starting the therapy.

What is the science behind it?

Theta waves are slow brainwaves produced during deep relaxation or meditation. Theta therapy helps synchronize brainwave activity, promoting mental and emotional healing.

Is it FDA Approved?

Theta therapy itself is not FDA-approved, but brainwave entrainment technology is considered safe and widely used.

Why do I not feel the spin of the pod?

The therapy is designed to create a calming effect without inducing dizziness, so most individuals don’t feel the motion while inside the theta pod.

What if I am claustrophobic or get motion sickness?

If you’re claustrophobic, you can discuss alternatives or adjustments with the provider to make the experience more comfortable.

Who should not use Theta?

Individuals with pacemakers, a history of seizures, or epilepsy should consult with their doctor before undergoing theta therapy.

Does it really work?

Yes, research shows that theta brainwave entrainment can promote relaxation, reduce stress, and improve mental clarity.

How will I feel after?

Most individuals feel calm, relaxed, and more centered after a session.

Who would benefit from an intensive?

Those struggling with chronic stress, anxiety, or trauma may benefit from more frequent sessions in a shorter period.

What does it feel like?

Theta therapy feels like a meditative or deeply relaxed state, similar to light sleep without fully losing consciousness.

Is it safe?

Yes, theta therapy is safe for most people.

How long is a session and how long do the results last?

Sessions last about 30-60 minutes, and the effects can last several days. For best results, multiple sessions over time are recommended.

Red Light Therapy

What is Red Light & how does it work?

Red light therapy uses low-level wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to penetrate the skin and stimulate cell regeneration and healing.

What does it help with?

It helps with pain relief, reducing inflammation, improving skin conditions, boosting collagen production, and promoting healing for wounds and injuries.

How many sessions/treatments do I need and how often can I do them?

Red light therapy has minimal side effects, but overuse can result in temporary redness or irritation.

What if I am on medication?

Red light therapy is generally safe, but if you’re taking medications that cause photosensitivity, consult your doctor.

What is the science behind it?

Red light therapy works by enhancing mitochondrial function in cells, increasing energy production, reducing inflammation, and promoting tissue repair.

Is it FDA Approved?

Yes, red light therapy is FDA-approved for certain applications, including treating pain and improving skin health.

Who should not use Red Light?

People with light-sensitive conditions or those on medications causing photosensitivity should avoid red light therapy.
